How payment works

You keep a card on file. It is charged on the day of the session, unless the session is being billed through insurance.

Insurance

Credentialing with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna is in progress. Until it clears, sessions are private pay with monthly superbills you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.

If cost is the thing standing in the way, say so on the consult call. It is a normal conversation and I would rather have it than have you not call.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Providers, including psychotherapists, must give clients who are not using insurance an estimate of expected charges before treatment begins, and must tell clients that this right exists.

You can ask any provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. You will get one here automatically, and you can ask for it in writing sooner.

For a self-pay client here, the expected charges are $245 for the first session, which is the intake and assessment, and $195 per session, 50 to 60 minutes after that. How many sessions you have is decided between you and Josh as you go, so the total depends on that.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute it. Keep a copy of the estimate. For questions or more information about this right, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.

Payment

Sessions are billed through the client portal, and you can keep a card on file there if that is easier.

Questions about any of this belong on the FAQ or the consult call.

Still worth a conversation.
